Malmö, Sweden’s third-largest city, is a vibrant hub of culture, innovation, and history. Nestled on the country’s southern coast, it connects to Denmark via the iconic Öresund Bridge and boasts a unique mix of medieval charm and modern design. Known for hosting the Eurovision Song Contest in 2013 and 2024, Malmö Arena becomes a focal point for music fans worldwide during this spectacular event.
Andante takes to the Eurovision stage
Andante, after its meticulous restoration, once owned by Eurovision winner Benny Andersson, got to play a special role in modern Eurovision history. In May 2024, the boat embarked on a carefully planned journey to Malmö for the Eurovision final. After months of dedicated restoration, Andante was launched from Henån on the west coast and navigated through the scenic Falsterbo Canal. The crew, including captain Jens Sönnergaard, celebrated the achievement with pride as they successfully brought the vessel to Malmö, where it served as a gathering point for friends during the contest.
Though Sweden did not take the Eurovision crown that year, Andante’s journey symbolized the enduring connection between Swedish cultural heritage and the world of music. For all aboard, Malmö offered not only a front-row seat to Eurovision but also a chance to see the city’s skyline and festivities from the water, proving once again that the view is always better at sea.
